Steve Sims Leadership Award

Criteria

The Steve Sims Leadership Award, in the amount of $2,000.00, will be awarded to the senior girls basketball or track and field athlete who has demonstrated the outstanding leadership qualities that were valued by Steve Sims. The Steve Sims Leadership Award was established by the family of Steve Sims to honor and remember his vibrant life and the many contributions he made to the Grosse Ile High School community. Steve Sims was a respected and loved teacher and coach at Grosse Ile High School for 25 years, until his death on April 5, 2003.

Criteria for consideration include:

A graduating senior who plans to attend college after high school.

Earned a Varsity letter in Girls Track and Field and/or Girls Basketball during her high school career.

Complete and submit all paperwork associated with the Steve Sims Leadership Award by the deadline.

Required forms include-General Information, Personal Recommendations (3-Teacher, Coach and Other), Essay.

Demonstrate the following leadership qualities in her school, community and athletic activities.

	Competitive Spirit-Sense of Fairness
	Humility-Integrity-Love of Life
	Sense of Humor-Giving Spirit
	Ability to Motivate

	The monetary award is to be used towards expenses incurred at an educational institution of higher learning.
	The award selection committee will be comprised of 3 representatives from Steve Sims’ family or their designees, Mr. William Stevenson, the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach and the Varsity Girls Track and Field Coach.
	Composition of the committee is at the discretion of the Steve Sims family.
